Happy New Year 2013

I would like to wish all my readers a Happy New Year for 2013. I am hoping it is going to be a lot better than 2012, as this has not been a very good year for me , but at least I survived it. I follow a blog site by a very good caricature artist called Steve Hearn (Pencil Dreams) and he had a cracking picture of his brothers new dog. I thought I would have a go at caricaturing him? I am useless with animals but you have to keep trying to get better. This is pretty much my philosophy with human heads, although my improvement is quite slow going.

A few practice heads from various sketch books. A couple are something to do with friends and family as I have a lot of photos to refer to. I generally never show these sketches as know one else in my family has a love of my caricaturing efforts.

I watched a program on the telly about celebrity worst moments and heard about a roofer tweeting various celebs a naked picture of himself to get a response. As the motto goes perseverance pays off and he got Melanie Sykes (one of the most beautiful women in the world) to tweet back and is now getting married to her!
So I thought about doing a similar idea on my blog. I am married, so not after anything, but thought I would share with you all (A New Years Treat) what 50 years of manly abuse can do for you. Unfortunately the face is a caricature but the body is quite close to real, only I am a bit hairier and yes I think I have Hobbit Feet.

Hope, Prosperity and Good Will to all.

Got a New Job

I have been doodling while waiting for a new job, which thankfully I have now started. These are just quick sketches in one of my many sketch books done with a marker and a small block of cheap kids paints from Sainsbury's. The water colour paint just quickly brighten the drawing up and give a bit of depth. The lady with the straw is Amanda Nikki a fantastic Caricature artist who works in Las Vegas at the top of the Stratosphere, so if you are ever in Vegas, pop in and have one done. I have never met her, but one day I hope to get to the NCN convention and meet them all?

I have been busy sketching all the Celebrities on "I'm a Celebrity get me out of here" and they have put them in frames around the studio set as each of them get interviewed. I had done a few cruel ones of the 2 male presenters on the ITV2 program which they have made reference to and showed one of Rob Beckett as a cockroach?

I haven't included them all as there are about 20 odd but I Photoshop'd the sketches and put them on a back drop of jungle, but don't know if they will use this? I have done the ITV2 lot as well.

well Christmas is coming and I must think of a fitting post to end this year. Regards Fatboy.

Unemployed Again.

Hello to everyone, I have worked my notice and finished,  so that leaves me unemployed for a while, till my next job starts. I had to hold my breath a while as I gave notice before I actually had another job to go to? makes life interesting having a bit of a gamble?  All the people at the company I worked  for have been very kind to me and had a whip round and got me a present ( I am not very good at leaving and saying goodbye /Thank you and never think I am worthy of a gift) to which I am very humbly thankful for. I am sure one person imparticular spent a lot of time baking a very nice fruit cake (Moist) and chasing down a whole counties ration of Garibaldi biscuits as my gift as well as spending a lot of time trying to buy some Markette markers( almost impossible) but got me some Kurecolor markers which are great and used in some of the sketches below. So a BIG Thank you Emma, and the rest of the company.

I finished the gift Caricature of a friend  I said I was working on, and as I promised the  full picture here it is,

Here are some sketch book drawings over the last week or so

I also had a quick go at doing the Come Dancing judges, again using some of my new markers and various other pens that are on my desk.

I cannot remember if I have ever put this up, but occasionally I do try to do normal drawings to. This was a work colleagues grandchild I had already done a few Caricatures of whilst practising doing baby faces and I am sure they felt insulted enough by them, so I thought I would be nice and do a portrait.

Thanks for stopping by, do look in again. Best Wishes.

New Horizons

Well I have given in my notice at my current employment (Service Engineer)and finishing quite soon. My next job (Aircraft Handler) if all goes well is shift work and will give me a greater capacity to do more caricaturing? I have always known that working full time outside of the arts is a huge drain on you motivation and artistic drive, but like everyone you have to pay the bills regularly and on time , so we end up doing other things. Of course if there is anyone who fancies paying me to work as a caricature artist or just artist  full time, I am all ears.
Got a few things in the pipe line at the moment I am working on, but still practising as always. My daughter wanted a Justin Bieber cartoon for her wall. (This lad was one of the most popular caricature pictures on all the Theme Park stands I worked On, for both Boys and Girls) He must have something, but I don't see it?

 A young Johnny Vegas,
A couple of lady's at work,

And usually I don't put any digital stuff on here but this is a present for a friend soon, so once they have had the shock of it I will post the full caricature. ( To be honest I have seen a lot of you great artists do this and always impressed and intrigued so I thought I would borrow your idea).

As they say at the end of the old Disney cartoons, " That's all for now Folks"

Life is a Chang-in?

Well Hi to all, that is, if there is an all ?, or maybe the few would be better? well at least anyone who strayed on to this blogg thinking it might be something else! My life is about to change again and maybe free up some valuable time to draw Live caricatures again. I cannot say what the change is at the moment as I know some people who stray here  may guess and I would rather keep it a surprise? I have as always been scribblin in my posh sketch book as well as about 6 others that are always on the go, some results below.

The lady below with the child wanted a Mother and Daughter sketch, but not quite like this ? always happy to oblige so this was what she got. I had a string of bad word bubbles to put on, but finally refrained so you can think of your own? ( Be Carefully Mummy You nearly took my eyes out with them! was not one of them)

I also did a very quick digital Caricature of the Office Depot Salesman, who is a larger than life character and hope he may give me a few free bee's to help promote the company( I have to try anything?)

Look out for my next post and I should be able to explain my Change.
Best Wishes.

I still scribble and draw quite a bit bellow are some of my sketches.

I tend to sketch with anything that is lying around on my desk so they cound be in anything from markers , Biro , kids paint, watercolour, chalk, wax. I quite like using lots of different things. These to had alsorts on, even tea and coffee I think!

Well my time in the yard is over, so I must go back to the cell of life? Best wishes to all who pass my way.
